Our story
What started as a small food truck in the U.S. Virgin Islands has grown into one of Sandwich's favorite hidden gems. Owner Joel Finley originally started Off The Grid in St. Thomas in 2015, serving food with a laid-back island spirit. After Hurricanes Irma and Maria struck in 2017, Joel relocated to Sandwich, Massachusetts, to be closer to family, bringing Off The Grid with him.
Today, Off The Grid BBQ is a family-friendly gathering spot serving house-smoked barbecue, stacked burgers, specialty sandwiches, fresh salads, tacos, and more. From pulled pork and beef brisket to crowd favorites like the Mac Daddy Burger and Sloppy Choppy Sandwich, our menu offers something for every appetite, including vegetarian options. In addition to great food, guests can enjoy live music from local artists, as well as comedy nights, karaoke, and other special events. Whether you're joining us for lunch, dinner, live music, or a relaxing meal outdoors with family, friends, and even your dog, you'll find friendly service, a laid-back atmosphere, and plenty of reasons to return.
